Welcome to La Cueva Cross Country
Here are some important reminders to get ready for the 2019 Cross Country Season-

Camp- Our annual Cross Country Camp will be held Wednesday, July 31st - Saturday, August 3rd in beautiful Angel Fire, NM. Space is limited to the first 12 boys and 12 girls who register and payment is due Monday, July 29th. Transportation will be provided to and from La Cueva. The cost will be $260.00 per athlete. This is a great chance for athletes of any ability level to get in some high altitude training, bond with teammates, and learn more about running and rehab techniques to run stronger and healthier!
Summer conditioning- is set to begin Monday, June 24th and run through August 7th. We will meet at Academy Hills Park and begin practice promptly at 6:15 a.m Monday-Friday. This is early, but it helps us miss the heat and get to any summer school or summer jobs. Each athlete gets two weeks from their first session of attendance as a trial period to test out Cross Country if they would like to commit for the full summer. A $50 fitness fee is required for attendance beyond two weeks. We are typically done by 7:45 a.m. and no later than 8:00 a.m. This is an optional session, but is highly recommended for team building and season readiness. Please bring water and good running shoes.
Esteemed Alumni- Regardless if you ran for Coach Henry, Coach Nick, or Coach Kyle, we always welcome alumni to join us and share their wisdom with our up and coming runners!
The Regular Season- The official start date for the 2019 Cross Country season is Monday, August 12th. Each athlete must have the following forms complete prior to their participation. Note- physicals must be dated after April 1st, 2019 in order to be valid for the 2019-2020 season.
Physicals- Physicals must be turned in before an athlete can compete in the regular season. Athletes cannot practice without a completed physical after 8/12. Please take care of this ASAP to continue running with us. The link for the proper form can be found by clicking here.
Take the completed physicals to Mr. Allen during lunch or after school. Coaches cannot accept physicals. Mr. Allen can be found in the La Cueva Athletic Training Room located in D hall.
Mr. Allen will give you a blue slip after turning in your physical, this is what athletes will turn into a member of the coaching staff to participate.
Life of an Athlete- Here is the link to find the Life of an Athlete workshop. If you have already completed the workshop in a previous year, print out the certificate of completion and turn it in to one of the coaches. Concussion for Students Workshop- Due to recent legislation, athletes are required to complete a concussion awareness workshop. Please complete this ASAP and turn in a copy of your certificate of completion to a coach.
